Overview

The Business Development Manager drives strategic growth by managing internal and external business partnerships. This role oversees the execution of the MJHS's strategic plan, builds and maintains relationships with physicians, hospitals, nursing facilities, and community partners, and leads a team of Hospice Care Planners and Account Managers. Responsibilities include guiding referral and admission processes for Hospice and Palliative Care programs, facilitating service reviews and education, and collaborating with clinical and access teams to ensure timely, high-quality care. The position ensures all services align with organizational philosophy, goals, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Drive business growth by identifying opportunities, setting targets, and developing strategies to expand Hospice and Palliative Care services across physician, hospital, nursing home, and community markets.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships, negotiate solutions, and serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor Business Development staff, ensuring clear role understanding, compliance, and performance through coaching, training, and goal-setting.
  • Oversee referral and admission processes in collaboration with Access Center leadership to ensure timely, high-quality patient care.
  • Monitor performance metrics, budgets, and compliance with regulatory standards, while supporting quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and recruitment, fostering employee engagement through feedback, recognition, and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • BSN required, MSN preferred
  • 3+ years experience in Medical-Surgical, Community Health, Hospice or Oncology nursing preferred.
  • Business development and/or market development within a healthcare setting; with progressive management and/or increasing responsibilities desirable.
