Responsibilities

The Assistant General Counsel is an in-house attorney role in our legal department, working at the direction of the MJHS Chief Legal Officer and with the other Assistant General Counsel and Associate General Counsel. Provides legal counsel and guidance to MJHS Health System (MJHS) and its related entities. The attorney’s activity will largely be directed in support of MJHS Hospice and Palliative Care, MJHS Home Care, Isabella Geriatric Center and Menorah Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Qualifications

  • A degree from an accredited law school, strong academic credentials, and be licensed to practice law in New York State or eligible to seek admission to
    practice in New York.
  • Five to seven years relevant experience practicing law in a hospital, healthcare system or a law firm where the practice has been primarily focused on health law. Knowledge of nursing home and/or home care and/or hospice regulatory and operational matters preferred.
  • Strong skills in drafting and analyzing legal documents, including contracts.
  • A robust working knowledge of New York State health care laws.
  • Experience advising provider-side leadership on health care law matters.
  • Knowledge of nursing home, and/or home care, and/or hospice regulatory and operational matters preferred.
